WATCH: What exactly is the 24-Hour Economy Policy? Here's a simple, concise breakdown | Discuss Ghana

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has provided comprehensive operational updates on the execution of the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, outlining a structured incentive framework designed to drive domestic manufacturing, expand commercial agriculture, and scale up import substitution nationwide.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review in Parliament, Dr. Forson emphasized that the flagship strategy operates as a structural transformation initiative aimed at maximizing industrial capacity and unlocking round-the-clock employment. Under the fully finalized implementation plan, capital allocations have been mobilized to provide targeted private-sector incentives—including preferential utility tariffs, tax rebates, and specialized credit facilities—for participating companies operating night shifts.

Government projections indicate that transitioning key processing, agricultural, and logistics operations to three-shift schedules will significantly boost local manufacturing output, curtail reliance on foreign imports, and build a resilient export base under the broader national economic agenda.

Accelerating structural reforms and boosting local processing capabilities remain critical to sustaining domestic industrial growth and securing long-term foreign exchange stability.
