Oheneba Nana Asiedu Claims Court Ignored Fresh Evidence in Chairman Wontumi's Galamsey Case | Discuss Ghana

Broadcast journalist and host of the Wontumi Morning Show, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, has alleged that the Accra High Court disregarded critical audiovisual evidence showing ongoing illegal mining activities on the same concession tied to Chairman Wontumi's conviction.

Speaking on air regarding the ongoing legal struggle involving New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Mr. Asiedu claimed that defense counsel submitted photo and video proof demonstrating that unauthorized mining operations persist on the Akonta Mining concession. He argued that despite presenting this evidence to show that the illegal activities were carried out by third parties without Chairman Wontumi’s authorization or knowledge, the presiding judge proceeded with the 20-year custodial sentence.

Providing comprehensive oversight and evaluating all physical evidence remain central to ensuring public confidence as the defense team prepares its legal grounds for appeal.
