National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist Joshua Sika Nartey has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to consider appointing Sam Kofi Atta Mills—son of the late former President John Evans Atta Mills—to a government position, citing his engineering background and past contributions to key national infrastructure.
Speaking on party grassroots expectations, Mr. Nartey highlighted that Sam Kofi Atta Mills possesses strong technical qualifications and previously served as part of the engineering team that helped design and construct the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant in the Western Region. He argued that despite his expertise and deep political heritage, the late President's son has not been assigned a role within the current administration. Nartey maintained that offering him a suitable appointment in government would not only utilize his professional capabilities for national development but also serve as a fitting honor to the memory and legacy of the late President Atta Mills among NDC loyalists.
Recognizing qualified party cadres and honoring political legacies remain key considerations in governance and ministerial appointments.
