Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, has dismissed complaints from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin regarding speaking time allocations in the House, arguing that time distribution must reflect numerical representation on the floor.
Reasserting the Majority caucus's legislative precedence during debates, Ayariga insisted that as the leader representing 189 caucus members, it is procedural and proportional for his side to receive proportional speaking time compared to the Minority bench. He cautioned the Minority leadership against making unrealistic demands that disregard parliamentary conventions and majority mandates, emphasizing that time management under Standing Orders must remain aligned with caucus size and official business scheduling.
