Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, led a delegation of party heavyweights to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to visit the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
The visit follows the recent judgment by the Accra High Court sentencing Chairman Wontumi to 20 years in prison in connection with illegal mining activities involving Akonta Mining Limited. Dr. Bawumia and executive members offered solidarity and assured the jailed chairman of the party's unwavering backing as the legal team prepares to launch an appeal at the Court of Appeal to overturn the ruling.
Demonstrating strong unity and moral support remains a central priority for the NPP leadership as they challenge the High Court verdict.
