Roads Minister Agbodza Warns Contractors as $500M World Bank Road Projects Begin | Discuss Ghana

Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has warned that contractors who fail to meet quality standards on newly funded road projects will face strict penalties, including contract termination and blacklisting.

Speaking on the rollout of the newly approved $500 million World Bank credit facility under the Ghana Market Access and Connectivity Project (GMACP), the Minister assured the public that the government will institute strict monitoring systems across all target regions. The funds will focus on rehabilitating over 1,000 kilometers of critical feeder roads to boost agricultural transport, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve rural livelihoods.

Mr. Agbodza emphasized that the government will no longer tolerate substandard work or unjustified delays, promising value for money on every public project.

Strict oversight and accountability will protect public funds and ensure Ghana builds resilient, high-quality infrastructure for long-term economic growth.
