President Mahama Holds Bilateral Talks With Beninois President Romuald Wadagni | Discuss Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama has met with the newly inaugurated President of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, on the sidelines of the African Union Extraordinary Health Summit in Accra to discuss bilateral relations and regional stability.

During their meeting at the Presidency, the two West African leaders focused on enhancing economic cooperation, cross-border trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and security collaboration. President Mahama congratulated President Wadagni on his election victory and highlighted opportunities to revive industrial partnerships, including Ghana’s interest in importing Beninois cotton to boost local textile production. In response to regional security threats in the Sahel, President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana's solidarity with Benin and advocated for refreshed regional platforms to combat violent extremism.

Strengthening diplomatic and trade ties among West African nations remains essential for fostering regional economic integration and collective security resilience.
