Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has issued a blunt warning to Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, cautioning the government’s chief legal advisor against targeting opposition figures through selective prosecution.
Addressing journalists and parliamentary colleagues, Afenyo-Markin criticized what he characterized as partisan legal harassment by the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, specifically referencing the recent sentencing and incarceration of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi). Reminding the Attorney General of the cyclical nature of democratic power, the Minority Leader declared that political tides will turn in the 2028 general elections. He warned Dr. Ayine to exercise restraint and adhere strictly to legal fairness, asserting that unconstitutional precedents set today could leave current government officials facing similar incarceration at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison once they return to opposition.
