Asantehene Urges Government Appointees to Justify Roles and Deliver on Executive Mandate | Discuss Ghana

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on government appointees to discharge their official duties diligently, urging them to justify their inclusion in governance and validate the trust placed in them by President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking at Manhyia Palace during a courtesy call by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and a delegation from the health sector, the Asantehene stressed that state ministers and public officers hold the responsibility of translating executive vision into tangible development. Otumfuo cautioned political appointees against getting distracted by opportunistic associates, advising them to exercise vigilance, complete inherited infrastructure projects, and avoid political overreach in public administration. In response, Health Minister Akandoh briefed the King on ongoing healthcare initiatives, including the rollout of the Free Primary Healthcare policy, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), and structural plans to complete inherited Agenda 111 health facility projects across the Ashanti Region.

Sustaining effective public administration and institutional accountability remains a key focus for traditional authorities and state leaders driving national development.
