With parts of the national capital layout already battling severe, wheel-deep water loggings following consecutive days of torrential downpours, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, has issued an urgent, high-stakes safety advisory to local populations.
In an official state alert broadcasted today, Thursday, May 28, 2026, the Regional Minister directed all citizens residing within identified low-lying and flood-prone enclaves to immediately activate emergency evacuation protocols and temporarily relocate to higher, safer grounds.
A Submerged Landscape Trapped in the Rains
The Minister's emergency warning lands alongside highly alarming visual evidence across the capital, featuring extensive damage to property and public transit lines.
Massive sections of major residential zones are currently sitting under heavy sheets of brown floodwater. The visual layout from the frontlines depicts a distressing scene: several commercial commercial buses and private vehicles are trapped and partially submerged up to their windows, while makeshift structures and local security walls have given way to the heavy currents.
