Following his emotional visit to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison on Monday, April 13, 2026, global dancehall sensation Stonebwoy has officially committed to making his presence at the facility a permanent fixture.
The Livingstone Foundation confirmed that, starting this year, the BET award winner will organize a yearly music concert specifically for the inmates, aimed at boosting morale and supporting their rehabilitation through the power of music.
The Heart Behind the Pledge
The decision to launch an annual concert series was born out of a deeply personal moment during his recent visit:
The Childhood Friend: Stonebwoy was visibly shaken and moved to tears after recognizing a close childhood friend serving time among the inmates. This encounter underscored his message that "circumstances can change for anyone".
Mental Health & Rehabilitation: The artist emphasized that while incarceration is a punishment for crimes, it should not be a "death sentence for the soul." He believes regular musical entertainment will provide a vital mental health break for those behind bars.
Feeding the Spirit: Beyond the music, Stonebwoy highlighted the dire economic conditions in prisons, noting that the current daily feeding allowance of GH₵1 to GH₵3 is insufficient for basic nutrition.

A Call for Compassion
Stonebwoy used the platform to call on the Ghanaian government and fellow citizens to take a closer look at the Prison Reset agenda. He urged the Ghana Prisons Service to work with private individuals to improve living conditions, sanitation, and the quality of vocational training available to inmates.
“This concert will be a day where the walls don’t feel so high and the spirit feels free. We are bringing the stage to them because they deserve to be remembered.” — Stonebwoy.
