On Monday, April 6, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama departed Accra for Paris, France, to participate in the high-level One Health Summit at the invitation of the French government.
The three-day working visit is centered on global health security and strengthening the diplomatic and economic "National Reset" between Ghana and France.
The One Health Summit Agenda
The summit brings together world leaders, scientists, and environmentalists to address the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health:
Pandemic Preparedness: President Mahama is expected to deliver a keynote address on Africa’s role in global vaccine manufacturing and early warning systems for zoonotic diseases.
Climate and Health: The President will join a panel on how climate change in the Sahel region is impacting public health across West Africa.
Financial Commitments: Ghana aims to secure technical partnerships for its $100M Bio-Medical Research Hub, a key pillar of the 2026 industrialization agenda.
Bilateral Talks With President Macron
Following the summit, President Mahama will hold a private bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace:
Security Cooperation: Discussions will focus on the escalating instability in the Gulf of Guinea and French support for the Accra Initiative to combat regional terrorism.
Economic Partnership: The leaders will review progress on the €50M Green Energy Pact signed in 2025, which aims to boost solar energy production in northern Ghana.
The 24-Hour Economy: President Mahama is expected to pitch the 24-Hour Economy incentives to French investors, specifically targeting the pharmaceutical and agribusiness sectors
