Ewura Karim Adams Urges Patience as Akosombo Recovery Enters Final Phase | Discuss Ghana

Youth activist and a leading aspirant for the position of NDC Deputy National Communications Director, Ewura Karim Adams, has added his voice to the national conversation regarding the current power crisis.

In a statement released today, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Adams appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience and maintain solidarity as the government’s technical teams work around the clock to fully restore the national grid following the April 23 Akosombo fire.

"We Feel Your Pain": Acknowledging the Struggle

Recognizing the significant impact the outages have had on homes and businesses, Karim Adams noted that the government is fully aware of the public's frustration.

Standing Together: Adams emphasized that this is a moment for national unity rather than political division. "We acknowledge the difficulties this situation has caused for every Ghanaian—from the small-scale trader to the student studying for exams. We are in this together, and we must stand together as we overcome this hurdle," he stated.

Rejecting "Dumsor" Narratives: Aligning with the party's communication strategy, he encouraged the public to see the current situation as a technical emergency rather than a systemic failure. He noted that unlike previous years, the current administration has already demonstrated its commitment to energy infrastructure through the "Big Push" agenda.

The "Lasting Solutions" Roadmap

Adams’ call for patience is backed by the significant progress reported from the Akosombo Generating Station today:

Generation Boost: With the fourth turbine now restored as of early this morning, the power deficit has been significantly reduced.

Infrastructure Overhaul: He reminded Ghanaians that the ongoing transformer replacement project (aiming for 2,500 new units) is the "lasting solution" that will prevent localized outages once the bulk power from Akosombo is 100% stable.

Financial Commitment: He echoed the Ministry's recent confirmation that all technical contractors have been fully paid, ensuring there are no financial bottlenecks to the restoration.

Political Context: The 2026 NDC Internal Elections

Ewura Karim Adams' statement comes at a time of high political activity within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Aspirancy: Adams is widely seen as a frontrunner for the Deputy National Communications Director role in the upcoming December 2026 National Executive elections.

Communication Leadership: Analysts suggest that his proactive approach to the power crisis is a move to demonstrate "leadership under fire," positioning him as a viable successor to or deputy for current stalwarts like Sammy Gyamfi or Malik Basintale (who may soon be stepping into executive government roles).
