Outspoken Ghanaian football pundit and coach, Christopher Nimley, has heavily criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s recent comments regarding the future of Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz. Nimley urged the President to properly review the veteran tactician's managerial history before making public policy suggestions on national sports strategy.

The clash of opinions follows a statement made by President Mahama during the climax of his "Resetting Ghana Tour" in the Volta Region. The President had publicly urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to "persuade" the 73-year-old Portuguese manager to stay on permanently, arguing that Queiroz had laid a stable foundation during the 2026 World Cup—where Ghana advanced from the group stage before suffering a tight 1-0 Round of 32 exit against Colombia. Mahama expressed confidence that with Queiroz kept at the helm, the Black Stars could confidently challenge for trophies at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2030 World Cup.

However, Coach Nimley strongly rejected the President's assessment during a sports panel breakdown. Nimley argued that Queiroz's long and storied career lacks elite international silverware, pointing out that despite coaching top teams like Real Madrid and Portugal, he has historically failed to win major trophies. Slamming the highly defensive, ultra-conservative system deployed by the Portuguese manager during the tournament in North America, Nimley bluntly labeled the team's display as "dade kraman" (stray dog/uninspired) football, asserting that Ghana deserves a coach who can bring back attractive, fluid, and winning football.
