Afenyo-Markin Urges NPP Executives to See Politics Through Spiritual Lens, Calls for 2028 Unity | Discuss Ghana

Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has charged newly elected Central Regional constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to approach party politics with strategic and spiritual discernment as the opposition party lays the groundwork toward victory in the 2028 general elections.

Addressing party executives during a regional orientation session, the veteran lawmaker emphasized that political warfare extends beyond surface-level physical strategies, urging members to maintain unwavering internal cohesion.

“Politics is a spiritual exercise; don’t do it with your naked eye,” Afenyo-Markin advised the gathering. “If you view this journey purely on the surface, you will easily be discouraged or swayed. We must remain deeply united, spiritually focused, and completely committed to securing victory for the NPP in 2028.”

Focus on Reconciliation and Reclaiming the Majority

Afenyo-Markin’s remarks come as the NPP consolidates its organizational structures across all regions following internal constituency and regional elections.

Speaking from his bench as Minority Leader, the Effutu legislator highlighted several core imperatives for the newly minted constituency leaders:

Fostering Reconciliation: Urging executives to actively mend fences with aggrieved members and defeated candidates from past internal contests.

Grassroots Mobilization: Re-energizing local campaign units to ensure the party's message resonates with voters across the Central Region—traditionally a crucial battleground in national elections.

Collective Discipline: Warning against factionalism and encouraging local leaders to prioritize party loyalty over personal political ambitions.
