Speaking on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, during a symbolic flag-raising and cake-cutting ceremony at the NDC national headquarters in Adabraka, Accra, the chief scribe took the opportunity to contrast the raw, principled leadership of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) era with the modern political arena. Kwetey did not hold back, taking aim at what he described as a growing culture of "weak leadership" and "mediocrity" that has compromised the core values of public service.

Eliminating Re-election Fears: Kwetey argued that the constant pressure to secure a second term forces sitting presidents to make weak, populist decisions to appease the electorate rather than enforcing tough, necessary institutional laws.

A Single Mandate Focus: He proposed transitioning to a “one mandate non-renewal” single-term presidency, asserting: "If you don't have to be afraid of being re-elected, you do what you've got to do for your country.
