Joining the growing debate over the Black Stars' roster for next month's tournament, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Founder of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, has made a passionate plea for the inclusion of veteran forward Andre "Dede" Ayew.
Speaking on GTV Breakfast Show earlier today, Thursday, May 14, 2026, the renowned clergyman described Ayew as a "motivator" who is essential for the team's success in North America.
"His Father's Spirit"
Rev. Tetteh argued that Ayew’s value goes beyond his current form at Dutch side NAC Breda, focusing instead on his leadership and lineage.
Inherited Greatness: "The boy plays with his might. In fact, he carries his father's spirit [Abedi Pele]. Dede Ayew is a motivator," Dr. Tetteh remarked.
The U-20 Legacy: He reminded Ghanaians of Ayew's historic leadership during the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup victory in Egypt, stating that his experience is irreplaceable for a younger squad.
A Call for Motivation: The Rev. cautioned against "dampening the spirit" of veteran players, suggesting that Ayew should be brought along to motivate the younger players, even if his role on the pitch is limited.
The "Veteran" Debate
The 36-year-old Ayew, who recently joined NAC Breda and has scored once in ten appearances this season, has not been a regular fixture for the national team since AFCON 2023.
| Player Status | Reasoning for Inclusion | Potential Drawbacks |
| Andre Ayew | Leadership, "Father's Spirit," Motivation | Age (36), lack of recent international minutes |
| The New Guard | Speed, youth, European form (Kudus, Semenyo) | Lack of major tournament experience |
