KiDi Officially Confirms Exit from Lynx Entertainment | Discuss Ghana

Ghanaian Afrobeats star KiDi (Dennis Nana Dwamena) has officially confirmed that he has parted ways with Lynx Entertainment, the record label that has been his home since he won MTN Hitmaker in 2015.

During a TikTok Live session with popular blogger Code Micky today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the "Sugar Daddy" revealed that he is now operating as an independent artiste, marking the end of a highly successful nine-year partnership with the Richie Mensah-led label.

The "Gymnastic" Exit

While fans have been speculating about his status for months, KiDi provided clarity on exactly when the transition occurred.

The Exit Single: KiDi explained that his departure was a gradual process that culminated with the release of "Gymnastic," his high-energy collaboration with Olivetheboy and Kojo Blak earlier this year. "During the 'Lomo Lomo' days I was there, but 'Gymnastic' was my exit," he confirmed.

Going Independent: The singer is now releasing music under his own independent imprint, with licensing and distribution support reportedly linked to Encore.

A "Signature" Start: To prove he still has the "midas touch" without a major label, KiDi recently released "Signature" featuring Lasmid (released April 30, 2026). The track has already hit the top of the charts, debunking the industry myth that Lynx artistes struggle after leaving.

A Legacy of Hits (2016–2025)

Under Lynx Entertainment, KiDi transformed from a reality show winner into one of Africa's biggest global exports. His tenure at the label produced:

Global Anthems: Tracks like "Touch It," which went viral globally and earned him a Platinum certification in India.

Award-Winning Albums: Both Sugar and The Golden Boy earned him numerous "Album of the Year" accolades and cemented his place in the Afrobeats pantheon.

The "Lynx Three": Alongside Kuami Eugene and (formerly) MzVee, KiDi was part of the trio that dominated Ghanaian airwaves for nearly a decade.

Why Now?

Industry analysts suggest that KiDi's move to independence is a natural progression for an artist of his stature who now has the global connections and financial backing to manage his own brand. By moving to an independent model, he likely gains more creative control and a larger share of his streaming and performance revenue.
