In a strikingly candid reflection shared today, Monday, May 11, 2026, outspoken politician and business mogul Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has explained the motive behind his recent reconciliation with President John Dramani Mahama.
Agyapong, who was a fierce critic of the NDC for decades, revealed that his perspective shifted after experiencing how his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), allegedly "recycled" his own past attacks to sabotage his recent presidential primary ambitions.
The "10 Sins" Campaign
According to Ken Agyapong, the tipping point occurred during the 2024 and 2025 NPP primary season, when a document titled the "10 Sins of Kennedy Agyapong" was circulated by members of his own party to discredit him.
Internal Backstab: "When I was criticising the NDC, my party was happy," Agyapong noted. "But when I decided to contest, it was the time that they used all the things I used against the NDC against me."
The Irony: He expressed shock that the same "firebrand" rhetoric that the NPP once praised was later used to paint him as unfit for leadership.
The "Unlikely" Friendship with Mahama
Perhaps most surprising to his followers was Agyapong's admission of the personal kindness he has received from President John Mahama, despite their years of public political warfare.
A Genuine Bond: "I have to be honest, President Mahama's been very nice to me. He loves me and everything," Agyapong admitted.
The Apology: He explained that his recent apology to the President was born out of a realization that his past criticisms were often "harsh" and ignored the personal relationship they shared behind the scenes.
The Ibrahim Mahama Connection: This sentiment also extends to the President's brother, Ibrahim Mahama. Earlier today, the two were seen laughing together on Ibrahim's private jet, where Appiah Stadium was stunned by their camaraderie.
Political Isolation or Realignment?
Agyapong’s comments come at a time of visible tension within the NPP.
Campaign Absence: His campaign team recently had to clarify his absence from the NPP’s national thanksgiving service in February 2026, fueling rumors that he is distancing himself from the Bawumia-led campaign.
The "Maverick" Status: By publicly praising the NDC leader and calling out his own party’s "sins," Agyapong is once again proving why he is considered the most unpredictable figure in Ghanaian politics.
