Bullet Claims He Gave Ebony’s Father $100,000 in Royalties | Discuss Ghana

In a major revelation that has reignited the long-standing tension between Rufftown Records and the family of the late Ebony Reigns, record label executive Bullet (Ricky Nana Agyemang) has claimed that he recently handed over $100,000 to the singer's father, Mr. Opoku Kwarteng (popularly known as Starboy Kwarteng).

Speaking in an interview this week, Bullet stated that the amount represents 50% of the total royalties earned from Ebony's music catalog. This claim comes just months after Bullet's emotional interview on UTV’s Atuu in March 2026, where he admitted to still being in debt from the loans he took to promote Ebony during her rise to fame.

The "Ebony Party" and Missing Gratitude

Bullet expressed frustration that despite the significant financial transfers, Mr. Kwarteng has allegedly not acknowledged the payments publicly.

The 50% Split: According to Bullet, the $100,000 payment was a fulfillment of his promise to share the fruits of Ebony's legacy with her family.

The "First-Ever Ebony Party": Bullet noted that additional funds were given to the father following a tribute event, but complained that these gestures are often ignored in the media. "I gave Ebony’s father $100,000 recently... but he doesn’t talk about it anywhere," Bullet lamented.

A History of Handovers: In August 2018, Bullet famously announced he was handing over 100% of Ebony's unreleased songs and 100% of royalties to her father to end accusations of "cheating." His recent comments suggest that even years later, the financial management of Ebony's estate remains a source of conflict.

Debt vs. Royalties: A Complicated Legacy

Bullet’s recent statements highlight the financial "double-edged sword" of managing a posthumous career:

The Debt Struggle: Bullet revealed in March 2026 that he is still paying off personal loans used to fund Ebony’s early promotions. He even admitted that if Wendy Shay hadn't emerged to save the label, he might have faced "prison" due to the financial ruin.

The Royalties Stream: Despite the debts, Ebony’s music (including hits like "Maame Hwe" and "Sponsor") continues to generate significant digital royalties globally.

The Property Dispute: Bullet once again denied rumors that he fought with the father over physical properties, asking rhetorically, "Which artist in Ghana can acquire properties within just two years?"
