Hamamat Montia Delights President Mahama at Kwahu Business Forum | Discuss Ghana

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, Ghanaian entrepreneur and Global Shea Butter Ambassador Hamamat Montia stole the spotlight at the 2026 Kwahu Business Forum when she introduced President John Dramani Mahama to her latest innovation: Shea Butter Gelato.

As the President toured the exhibition center at the newly commissioned Kwahu Convention Centre in Mpraeso, he stopped at Hamamat’s booth, where the entrepreneur demonstrated how she is "National Resetting" the shea industry by moving beyond skincare into the luxury food sector.

Innovation in the Exhibition Booth

Hamamat, who was officially appointed as Ghana’s first Shea Butter Ambassador in February 2026, used the forum to showcase the versatility of "Green Gold":

The Gelato Experience: The Shea Butter Gelato is a dairy-free, plant-based dessert made from high-grade edible shea butter sourced from northern Ghana. Hamamat explained to the President that the product is designed for the global health-conscious market.

The President’s Reaction: President Mahama, known for his support of the One District One Factory (1D1F) and indigenous manufacturing, sampled the gelato and praised Hamamat for her "creative genius" in adding value to raw materials.

Economic Goal: Hamamat told the President that her goal is to make Ghana a "global skincare and nutrition hub," noting that shea butter and black soap alone could create thousands of jobs if properly branded and exported.

A Weekend of High-Level Interaction

The encounter was one of several highlights of the President’s tour of the trade exhibition on the sidelines of the forum:

Supporting SMEs: The President’s visit to Hamamat’s booth reinforced the forum’s theme, "The Future of Business," focusing on how small and medium-sized entrepreneurs can scale their operations into international brands.

Cultural Diplomacy: As an ambassador, Hamamat emphasized that her work is "symbolic" of African tradition, telling the President that the world is ready to consume African heritage in new, innovative forms like gelato.

Investor Matchmaking: Following the tour, Hamamat was among the selected exhibitors participating in "investor matchmaking" sessions designed to pair Ghanaian innovators with venture capitalists.
