A Vow of Reform
Chairman Wontumi’s address focused on the lessons learned during his tenure as the influential Ashanti Regional Chairman and the broader challenges faced by the party:
Learning from the Past: Wontumi stated that after everything he has endured, he is committed to ensuring that "things we did in the past will not be repeated" if the party secures victory in 2028.
Focus on Winnability: He has consistently urged party delegates to prioritize "winning political power" over personal relationships, family ties, or lineage when selecting leaders.
National Ambitions: By moving his engagement to the Central Region, Wontumi is effectively broadening his base beyond his Ashanti Region stronghold as he prepares for a national leadership contest.
Loyalty and Support: Despite his personal ambitions, Wontumi has remained a vocal supporter of the party's current structures, recently backing Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for the party's presidential nomination based on "winnability and party strategy".
