Renowned Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has been officially appointed as an ambassador for the National Youth Authority (NYA) anti-drug initiative, "Red Means Stop".
The announcement was made by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, during a parliamentary session on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The appointment aims to leverage Medikal’s significant influence and massive social media following to educate the youth on the dangers of substance abuse.

The "Red Means Stop" Initiative
The campaign is a strategic intervention by the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment and the NYA to combat the rising use of harmful substances, specifically a dangerous synthetic opioid combination known locally as "Red".
Target Audience: The campaign focuses on students and young people aged 12 to 35, with data showing that nearly four in ten senior high school students have encountered drug use.
Medikal’s Role: As an official ambassador, Medikal will serve as a visible role model by:
Participating in nationwide school outreach programs.
Incorporating anti-drug themes into his music videos and live performances.
Leading digital storytelling efforts to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
NYA Leadership: The initiative is championed by NYA CEO Osman Ayariga, who has emphasized that "drugs destroy dreams" and urged the youth to "choose life and purpose".
